Shea’s Stage & Story Book Club

This season, we’re thrilled to launch Shea’s Stage & Story Book Club! Several productions this season are inspired by literature, making it the perfect time to explore how stories come to life both on the page and on the stage. Each month, we’ll highlight books that connect with the themes of the productions on stage at Shea’s, creating new ways for our community to engage with the arts. Whether you're reading solo, with family, or in a group, we invite you to explore these stories, reflect on their messages, and join the conversation as we connect stage and story all season long. Happy Reading!

Full Book List
March Themes: Time, Acceptance, & Mortality
For March, our selections explore the fragility and wonder of time through stories that balance humor, heartbreak, and hope. Centered around Kimberly Akimbo, a darkly funny and deeply moving musical about a teenager aging at an accelerated rate, this month’s themes invites us to reflect on acceptance, mortality, and the urgency of living fully with the time we have. These ideas echo through our kids’ picks, Out of My Mind and We’re All Wonders, which celebrate resilience and embracing differences, and continue in our adult and YA selections, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and They Both Die at the End, each offering a poignant meditation on life’s unpredictability and the beauty found in fleeting moments.
These themes come to life on stage with Kimberly Akimbo, a heartfelt theatrical experience that blends sharp humor with profound emotion, reminding us that while time may be beyond our control, how we choose to spend it is what truly matters. Kimberly Akimbo performs at Shea’s March 17-22!
