This season, we’re thrilled to launch Shea’s Stage & Story Book Club! Several productions this season are inspired by literature, making it the perfect time to explore how stories come to life both on the page and on the stage. Each month, we’ll highlight books that connect with the themes of the productions on stage at Shea’s, creating new ways for our community to engage with the arts. Whether you're reading solo, with family, or in a group, we invite you to explore these stories, reflect on their messages, and join the conversation as we connect stage and story all season long. Happy Reading!
For June, our book selections invite us into stories of courage, determination, and the power of raising your voice. From the inspiring journey in Around America to Win the Vote and the trailblazing legacy celebrated in I Dissent: Ruth Bader Ginsburg Makes Her Mark, to the resilience and resistance woven throughout The Nightingale and The Once and Future Witches, each book explores what it means to challenge expectations and fight for a better future. Along the way, we encounter fearless women, unlikely alliances, and powerful moments of change that continue to resonate long after the final page.
These same themes come alive in our featured production, Suffs, a new musical that tells the story of the women who fought tirelessly for the right to vote. Suffs performs at Shea’s Buffalo Theatre June 2–7!
