Behind every great artist is a teacher. The Tony Awards® and Carnegie Mellon University are looking for the teachers who inspire the next generation of theatre artists. You can help by telling the story of a K-12 theatre educator who made a difference in your life or the lives of others.
Anyone—from students and school administrators, to friends, neighbors and family—may submit a candidate for the 2019 Excellence in Theatre Education Award. Make a video that shows why your favorite theatre teacher deserves the award. A committee of theatre education experts from the Tonys and Carnegie Mellon might select your candidate to be honored at the 73rd annual Tony Awards on June 9.
The winner will attend the Tony Awards ceremony and gala. They will be acknowledged on the CBS Tony Awards telecast, receive a cash prize for their school, and more.
Plus, the winner’s school or organization will receive a special master class presentation with theatre professionals from Carnegie Mellon. And two students from the theatre program overseen by 2019 Education Award winner will receive full scholarships to the six-week Carnegie Mellon University School of Drama Pre-College Program.
Honor the people who inspire the theatre artists of tomorrow — tell the story of a remarkable teacher today!
