Students will work with a teaching artist to explore the actor’s process of storytelling and create a “campfire song,” monologue, and/or scene based on the text of a novel. This residency can also be applied to any other book that your students are reading.
The pillars of English Language Arts learning standards include reading, writing, speaking, and listening. These same elements are critical to the craft of theatre-making. This unique residency provides a collaborative instruction opportunity for a teaching artist and a classroom teacher to help students interpret literature in new and exciting ways.
