Camp Broadway

Camp Broadway®'s The Next Step offers a specialized musical theater intensive of classes taught by Broadway professionals for aspiring teen performers, ages 14-17, who have had some previous on-stage experience. A highly unique program, The Next Step weaves traditional musical theater training into an immersive theatrical environment designed to give participants the opportunity to understand what it's really like to be a Broadway "Gypsy." Inspired by the landmark musical A Chorus Line, The Next Step places emerging triple-threats into a setting that surrounds an authentic audition process for a Broadway show.

More than any other program, The Next Step captures the essence of Camp Broadway's mantra, Develop Your Character. Each element of the 5-day program is designed to hone musical theater abilities, enhance interpersonal skills and cultivate the habit of discipline that dedicated theatrical artist need to have. Through singing, dancing, and acting workshops, participants will "discover their character," be it an ingénue, a comedic performer, or a belting diva. Over the course of the five days, they will channel this character in preparation for The Next Step Showcase, performed at Shea's 710 Theatre. Camp Broadway's team promises a program that uses the process of exploring art to inspire a more self-aware young artist.

Save the date! The 2017 Next Step camp will be held
July 31-August 4, 2017

Camp Broadway's The Next Step focuses on individual and small group coaching rather than ensemble work. This camp is theme-based rather than show-based, so campers will learn more about individual artists instead of individual shows.

In Summer 2017, Camp Broadway's The Next Step will pay tribute to 7-time Tony Award-winning composer Andrew Lloyd Webber. Next Step participants will perform selections from Webber's wide collection of musicals, including Cats, Evita, School of Rock, The Phantom of the Opera, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and more.
